Why I'm Running

I am running for the School Governance Council at Chattahoochee High School because I see both where education is going and where students are struggling today. Through my work in advanced research and teaching at the university level, I clearly see the gaps between what students learn in school and what they need to succeed after graduation. As a parent, I care deeply about creating an environment where students are not only successful in school, but truly prepared for life.

Priorities

Critical Thinking Over Memorization

Students should learn how to think, analyze, and solve problems—not just complete assignments.

Co-Regulation & Empathy

Support environments where students develop emotional regulation through guidance, understanding, and strong relationships.

Preparedness for Life

Focus on communication, independence, and problem-solving skills students will actually need for life, not just completing requirements.

What This Looks Like

  • Supporting both academic and emotional development.
  • Encouraging thoughtful use of technology.
  • Strengthening communication between school and parents.
  • Focusing on meaningful student outcomes, not just metrics.
